Homemade Greek Pasteli Recipe

Another easy snack for energy, strength and good mood, from our Kool Life Restaurant team. Greek Pasteli, usually consists of honey and sesame seeds. In this case, you do not need to worry about honey as sesame comes to mitigate its absorption, but also to offer all its ingredients.


  • 400 gr. Sesame seeds
  • 400 gr. honey
  • 1 lemon (skin)


  1. Wash the sesame seeds with plenty of water and let them drain well. We then place them in a pan and bake in a preheated oven at 180oC for half an hour, until they are roasted and have their aromas removed.
  2. Put the honey in a large pot and place it on a medium heat until it boils. 5 minutes after the first boil, add the lemon zest. To check that the honey mix is ready, take a spoon and pour it into a glass of water. If it sinks without breaking, we can add the sesame seeds. Alternatively, use a thermometer and remove from the heat when the honey reaches 125-130οC.
  3. Remove from the heat and add the sesame seeds. Stir until the ingredients are combined and the mixture comes off the bottom of the pot. Spread the mixture in a large pan lined with oil paste and with the help of a spatula spread the mixture before it cools down.
  4. Then cut it into pieces while it is relatively hot. When cooled, keep the lozenges in an airtight box away from moisture. We put oil glue between the honey bars so that they don’t stick together. Cover with cling film and close with the lid.
